Billy Steven Houston

Billy Steven Houston, age 56, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at his home. Born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, on January 15, 1955, he was the son of Bertie Frances Tackett Houston and the late Porter Cicero Houston.

Billy was an electrician and plumber, and he retired from the United States Navy, having served our country for twenty years. He was a member of the Howard General Baptist Church.

Billy is survived by his wife, Linda Houston of Quitman; two sons, Cecil Clifton Spencer, III and wife, Tina, of Gulf Port, Mississippi, and James Willard Leonard Spencer of Corpus Christi, Texas, daughters-in-law, Olympia Spencer and Kelly Spencer; his mother, Bertie Houston of Quitman; three brothers, Rickie Dean Houston of Conway, Odis Wyman Houston and Ray Houston, both of Quitman; three sisters, Martha Carol Houston of North Little Rock, Vickie Jean Loftis of England, and Jackie Bennett of Conway; and seven grandchildren, Dillon Spencer, Rylee Spencer, Britny Spencer, Sebastyon Spencer, Isaiah Spencer, Ciepress Spencer, and Ezekiel Spencer. Billy is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Olmstead Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 10, at the Howard General Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Kerry Smith, Bro. Charles Richardson, and Bro. Terry Mote officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Quitman Cemetery. Carroll Rhoades, Porter Bray, Gary Tackett, Frank Potts, Aaron Hill, and Clay Trammell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Smith and Charles Vaughan.
