James D. "Donnie" McAnear of Heber Springs died June 3, 2013 at age 62 after a courageous battle with cancer. Donnie was a graduate of Heber Springs High School, the University of Central Arkansas and served in the Arkansas Army National Guard. Donnie was a naturally persuasive person and enjoyed a lengthy career as a salesman in the industrial supply industry. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and spending time on Greers Ferry Lake. Donnie is survived by his fiancée Melissa Osbahr, daughters Debbie Blend (Steve) of Bryant, Sandra McAnear (Aaron) of Benton and grandchildren Brett, Reagan and Kaylie Blend. He is also survived by his parents, Billie Lou and Sanford Birdsong of Heber Springs, brother Darvin McAnear (Jodi) of Heber Springs and sister Cynthia Thacker (Butch) of Conway together with many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Cleon D. McAnear. Visitation will be held at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs on Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00 and a memorial service at 11:00. A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Little Rock. The family extends special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Southridge Village Nursing & Rehab Center in Heber Springs for their professional and compassionate care of Donnie and the many courtesies extended to the family during Donnie's stay at the facility. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Heber Springs, the American Cancer Society or the Midtowne Church in Benton, Arkansas.
